The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Crescent City Times.com By Kevin Kiley – September 24, 2025 Newsom’s rigged congressional map, drawn behind closed doors and now being foisted on the people of California, has just received an “F” grade from Princeton University's Redistricting Report Card. In other words, pretty much on par with Newsom’s overall job performance. This comes as I’m the subject of a New York Times feature on leading the fight against Newsom’s Sham. To help get the truth out to voters – that “Prop. 50” is the most corrupt scheme in California history and must be stopped – you can share this ad on social media. As Newsom attempts outright fraud on Prop. 50, I made a shocking revelation on the House Floor: a dog successfully voted in a recent California election. The animal kept getting a ballot even after it died. The speech now has 2.5 million views and is fueling momentum for Voter ID. Newsom, meanwhile, just signed a law forbidding federal officers from covering their faces to protect themselves and their families. This from the Governor who forced toddlers to wear masks all day. Fortunately, the "law” is already a dead letter: federal authorities won’t enforce it. Newsom also just signed off on another $20 billion for High-Speed Rail. But here's the catch: it's over 20 years. This "deal"is simply a refusal to admit defeat after we successfully stopped his federal funding. The next governor, no doubt, will end the project for good. I also blasted Newsom on national TV for pretending to support “free speech” after trying to ban COVID "misinformation,"parodies of Kamala Harris, and even private Bible studies – and I “congratulated” him on the Floor for California once again leading the nation in poverty. Finally, I made the case on CNN for reviving the spirit of self-government that was the great gift of our Founders. That starts with returning power to local communities, teaching young people civics and the First Amendment, and enabling all citizens to serve their community and country.
