I am a freshman at Del Norte High School and a member of the STORM youth coalition. I am writing to you about the dangers of tobacco products for children. On my first day at the high school, I saw a kid give another kid a vape pen right in front of me. I was shocked that they would do that right in the middle of class. Kids should not be smoking or vaping at all.Have you seen the different vape flavors? Do you know that the number two most popular flavor is gummy bear? Do you know who likes gummy bears? KIDS. There are a lot of candy flavor vape pens out there, and companies should not be making flavors that kids think would taste good. Advertisements also make vaping sound good but it's not, and not just vape, it's all tobacco. Even stores with pharmacies sell tobacco when they are places to get medicine.Tobacco is poison, a poison that might last your whole life. My mom stopped smoking 10 years ago, and she still gets the feeling of wanting a cigarette. It’s obvious that kids shouldn’t vape or smoke, but neither should adults. If you smoke, maybe think about quitting. If not for yourself, then think of your kids. Kids can be told not to do it as much as possible, but the parents have a big influence on whether kids use tobacco.
