Raymond Charles Bocock, who is facing multiple charges that include forcible rape of a child under the age of 14 and penetration with a foreign object, made a special appearance before Judge Robert F. Cochran in the Del Norte County Superior Court on Tuesday, Sept. 28.Bobcock sat silently, with his mouth covered with a mask, in the back row of the holding area. Bocock was one of five defendants who were waiting for their turn on the docket. They include forcible rape; sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 14, for at least three times over the course of three months or more; and enhancements due to aggravating circumstances - including penetration by an unknown object, lewd act upon a child, and committing acts upon more than one child.Other Courtroom ProceedingsDavid Ray SchumackDavid Ray Schumack, who was arrested Sept. 26 for attempted second degree robbery of the Coast Central Credit Union in Crescent City on Sept. 24, appeared as well.Schumack was informed by Judge Cochran that the first important step is for him to secure legal representation, and asked if he would like to be appointed public counsel. Schumack replied that he would, and public defender Karen Olson, who was not present in the courtroom, was assigned to the case.Schumack is facing charges in other cases, as well. Charges include providing false information to a police officer during a routine traffic stop; driving without a license due to a driving under the influence conviction; vandalism; trespassing and resisting arrest. These charges stem from two other incidents in Crescent City in September, but prior to the attempted robbery of the credit union.Woodasu Choo Fiche DonahueDuring the day’s court proceedings, Del Norte County officers kept a particularly watchful eye on Donahue. The six proceedings of the day took less than 45 minutes, but he was clearly agitated and had trouble containing his comments.Donahue is facing several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, exhibiting a deadly weapon, vandalism, contempt of court, violating a court order, disobeying terms of a court order and petty theft.When Judge Cochran attempted to read aloud the charges against Donahue, he shouted out “Not Guilty!” as well as several expletives. When Judge Cochran attempted to quiet the defendant and said, “I will give you an opportunity to apologize,” Donahue responded with more expletives.The outburst led to Cochran imposing a contempt of court charge, two more days in jail, and Donahue was escorted out of the courtroom by two deputies.Donahue’s attorney, who also had trouble communicating with his client about 20 minutes prior, informed the judge “he is a potential 1368.”Penal Code 1368 is the California statute that sets forth the state’s laws on a defendant’s mental competency to stand trial. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
