Hello, I am an elder of the Yurok Tribe. I am curious as to why the tribes that are Federally recognized get monthly checks and the Yurok's get nothing but a few dollars here and a few dollars there.I understand hard times for all, but the Yurok counsel don't have to deal with those pesky little problems.I was informed that the elders were going to be getting generators but nothing yet. I called and spoke with the tribe and they said they gave to the local Yurok's first and those of us that didn't live in the state would be getting theirs very soon and that was in early April. No word yet.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');The second COVID money provided to the tribe for the people has not been dispersed. I spoke with a member in the Yurok office and was told that they received the money but needed to decide how it should be used.Really, it should be given to the tribal members.I am disappointed that we vote these people into office and they are only about themselves and their families to heck with the rest of the tribe.Wake up people. We need to stand united and hold the counsel accountable.When the casino was built, we were told that we would be getting monthly payments from it and it has never come to fruition.Shame shame shame on the counsel for denying the people.Mary Anderson (Nuttall)Bremerton, Washington googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
