College of the Redwoods has hired Jason White as their new head football coach. White has 27 years of experience teaching and coaching at both the high school and collegiate level. He has a master’s degree in kinesiology from Humboldt State University.CR Athletic Director Bob Brown is enthusiastic about the new hire, stating his long local career and experience.“Jason brings a wealth of experience at all levels, having coached for the local high schools, for CR, and for HSU,” he said. “His ties with local area high schools will provide an excellent pathway for students to continue their academic and football careers at CR and at the next level. We can’t wait to get this going and bring back college football to the north coast!”The decision to reinstate the football program came after a funding commitment by the CR Foundation and the completion of an outside study that recommended steps to improve the football program. The college is acutely aware of the community’s interest in seeing football return to Humboldt County and CR is delighted that, with Coach White’s help, CR can make that happen.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');“I am excited and thankful for the opportunity College of the Redwoods and Dr. Keith Flamer has given me to restart and lead the Redwoods football program,” said White. “Our goal will be to provide the best possible values-based experience for student-athletes. Ensuring that our student-athletes graduate and transfer will be our priority. I have already started the recruiting process and I am confident that the foundation of our program will be built with local players.”“I am very excited to have Coach Jason White join the Corsair community as the football program’s new head coach,” said CR President Keith Flamer. “I look forward to having him rebuild our football program and work with our student-athletes. Coach White’s football acumen, commitment to education, and forward thinking will fit well with our program. I am most impressed with the commitment to promote excellence and service in the classroom and on the field and his concern with the holistic student experience. He is exactly what our students and community deserves and needs.” “I was fortunate to start my career as a college football player and coach at College of the Redwoods,” said White, “and I am ecstatic that I have come full circle.”The CR football program will resume in fall of 2022. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
