Don’t Fear Death, Fear Life Unlived. Robert Rice of Crescent City, California, passed away in his sleep at Royale Gardens Heath and Rehabilitation Center, Grants Pass, Oregon, Sunday night October 18, 2020.He was born October 17, 1928 in Selby, South Dakota and lived a wonderful life of adventure. From playing football with leather helmets to steal helmets with the Army in Korea to language school with the Air Force to Crescent City Art Club. He could paint, work clay, scrimshaw, speak Russian, and watch the whales off Brother Johnathan’s lookout.Mr. Postman, Bob retired from the Crescent City post office in 1985, serving the community for over 20 years.He enjoyed living life. Some of his favorite things were sitting in his recliner watching old TV shows, having a cocktail, dabbling with an art project and arguing politics, usually at the same time. A private man, a humble man, a dedicated man.He is survived by his wife of 52 years Margie Rice, Step children Mahrie DeGenova, Danny Cross, Randy Cross, and Kelly Cross, 18 Grand kids, 15 Great-Grand kids and 5 Great-Great-Grand kids.He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Alma Rice, his brothers Ray Rice and Vic Rice, his wonderful children Robert, Eric and Greta RiceThere will be a family, friends, acquaintances, onlookers gathering at Brother Johnathan’s point November 7, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00.
