Rolf Fredrick Klotz was called to the Lord on August 22, 2020 in Copperopolis, California with family by his side. Rolf was born February 6, 1949 to Gustav and Elizabeth Klotz, of Oakland, California.In 1951 his family moved to Crescent City making their home near Battery Point Lighthouse. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, then Del Norte High, graduating in 1967. In 1971, Rolf met Linda Chindgren and they were Married on August 27, 1972 at Grace Lutheran Church, where they raised their children in the faith. Linda preceded him in death four months ago. Rolf worked at Hambro Forest Products for over 20 years, before retiring and starting his second career as a Corrections Officer, before retiring, to enjoy his many grandchildren and travel.In 2010 he and Linda moved to Copperopolis, California. Rolf’s family who will miss and love him forever are; Sons; Dean Klotz (Katie) of Petaluma, California, David Klotz-Durow (Courtney) of Denver, Colorado, Daniel Klotz (Nicole) of Copperopolis, California and Daughter, Natalie Levy (Dave) of San Rafael, California. Along with Grandchildren Opal, Lucy, Ruth and June Klotz, Spencer and Julia Levy, Alonnah and Davin Klotz, Spirit and Bodhi Freeman, all of California and Josiah and Malakai Klotz-Durow & Aurora Meixner of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents Gus and Betty Klotz, brothers John and Paul Klotz and Niece Juelan Anderson. He also leaves behind his siblings, Dian Anderson, Karl Klotz, Juel Klotz and Mark Klotz, all of California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family.Rolf was a member of the Crescent City Volunteer Fire Department, retiring after 30 years, in his last role as Battalion Chief, he was incredibly dedicated to his service as a fireman and first responder. It was a love and passion that also involved him teaching others the art and science of firefighting. He enjoyed traveling, his most memorable with his parents to Europe, visiting ancestral homes. He had a love of gardening, fishing and Grandfathering.Due to the continuing pandemic related to Covid-19, No services were held. A memorial is being planned for a later date after restrictions are eased.
