As California struggles a COVID-19 data backlog and the resignation of the state’s public health officer Sunday, Del Norte County has recorded its 100th confirmed case of the virus.In a statement issued at 11:13 a.m. today, the Del Norte County Public Health Branch reported one new confirmed case of reported today, although the actual testing was some time ago.“While the lag-times are improving between commercial testing and reporting to Public Health, this new case was reported to Public Health after the isolation period would have been complete,” the report said. “This new case is still under investigation.”#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');In other news from the county, one of the cases reported last week remains hospitalized and the rest of the other 10 active cases are self-isolating at home. There have been no reports of COVID-19 related deaths and few hospitalizations in the county.More results from inmate testing at Pelican Bay State Prison accounts for the increase in the number of tests reported today — 6,155 compared to 4,889 on Friday, Aug. 7. According to the latest information available from the California Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation, no inmates have tested positive at PBSP. The latest information shows 26 total positives among staff (24 during recent mandatory testing and two previously) with 18 returned to work.Elsewhere in California, the state struggled to resolve data failures that created a backlog of as many as 300,000 tests, the secretary of Health and Human Services reported Friday. And on Sunday the state's public health officer resigned.Because of the data problems, the state has suspended moving counties on to — or off of — the “watch list” that helps govern what activities are allowed. Although Del Norte is among 20 California counties not on the list, the 38 counties on the list represent 95% of the state’s population.Other data released by Del Norte Public Health today:New confirmed COVID-19 cases: 1Current Hospitalizations: 1Total tests: 6155Total confirmed cases: 100Total active cases: 11Total inactive cases: 89Total hospitalizations: 3Total deaths: 0TransmissionContact to a Known Case: 53 cases (53%)Travel-Acquired: 8 cases (8%)Community Transmission: 37 cases (37%)Under Investigation: 2 cases (2%)GenderMales: 54 cases (54%)Females: 46 cases (46%)Age Range0-17 years: 22 cases (22%)18-49 years: 55 cases (55%)50-64 years: 16 cases (16%)65+ years: 7 cases (7%)Mean Age: 36Other DataSymptomatic Cases: 52 cases (53%)Asymptomatic Cases: 46 cases (47%)Passive Case Finding: 52 cases (53%)Active Case Finding: 47 cases (47%)For more information about these numbers visit the county’s COVID-19 website at http://www.covid19.dnco.org googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
