The Centers for Disease Control has a way to view county stats.Curry CountyAs of the time of this posting, Curry County Public Health had made no change to data displayed on its Facebook page on Aug. 4. The latest available data showed five active positive cases and nine recovered cases — a total of 14. This was no change from yesterday.It also shows 1,040 completed tests and 1,026 negative cases, along with zero deaths.Curry County Public Health has not responded to our requests for information about the number of positive staff cases from Pelican Bay State Prison who are Curry County residents. The Centers for Disease Control has a way to view county stats; many from Curry County are too low to calculate.Pelican Bay State PrisonAs of about 4 p.m. today, the CDCR report for Pelican Bay continued to show no inmate cases; as reported previously, inmates and staff at the prison have been tested.CDCR's report this afternoon continues to show only 26 staff with positive cases and 18 returned to work. CDCR’s suspension of intake from county jails has been extended to Aug. 9. The department also announced coordination with the Federal Receiver to identify 100 vacant beds at each institution that can be used for immediate isolation and this process is underway at PBSP.The prison continues to monitor staff and inmates and reports of testing are provided to the appropriate public health agencies. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation updates its website regularly to show activity of the virus; there will be a lag between the website reporting and that reported by local health agencies, so numbers may not always match.
