A 34-year-old Smith River man died Aug. 1 in a single vehicle rollover accident.According to a California Highway Patrol Crescent City Area report, the CHP Humboldt Dispatch Center received a report at about 12:45 a.m. of a traffic crash on Oceanview Drive, north of Peregrine Lane. Officers of CHP Crescent City responded. According to the report, the driver of a 1999 Ford Ranger, who has not yet been identified, was traveling northbound on Oceanview Drive.The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a mailbox before traveling down the embankment.
