Our 6 p.m. report continues, with the latest data we could round up for July 21, 2020. Our last report was Monday, July 20.New! PercentagesReaders have asked for percentages as a way of interpreting the data. It is difficult to have exact percentages, in part because we don’t have access to the very latest population numbers. Also, some people are tested multiple times (such as health care professionals). However, this rough data is interesting:#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');As of reports available to us on July 21:National - 15.34% of population tested; 9.24% of tests positive; 3.01% of people with positive tests died.California - 16.29% of population tested; 6.13% of tests positive; 1.94% of people with positive tests died.Oregon - 8.16% of population tested; 4.17% of tests positive; 1.87% of people with positive tests diedDel Norte County - 11.88% of population tested; 2.06% of tests positive; no deathsCurry County - 3.68% of population tested; 1.19% of tests positive; no deathsNew cases, Del Norte and Curry Both Curry and Del Norte counties have reported new positive COVID-19 cases since our last report:DEL NORTEAs of the latest report from Del Norte County Public Health at 8:22 a.m. on July 21, there were two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported, bringing the total of active cases to six. The virus is not contained by city, county or state boundaries. And we all need to know the rules at play in the jurisdictions we might visit.Unless there is urgent information that must be shared, we plan to make just one post daily with the best information we can gather — and compile what is relevant for our Friday print editions. If you have a suggestion for information you would like to see in this daily (Monday through Friday) report, please send an email to: piloteditor@countrymedia.net.Unfortunately, all jurisdictions do not report information in the same format, so some information has not been provided for us to share:CALIFORNIACalifornia, updated July 21, 2020:Tests reported — 6,536,932Total cases — 400,769 Total deaths — 7,755 California's positivity rate – a key indicator of community spread – is trending upward in the 14-day average.
