David Leroy Gensaw Jr. passed away on May 23, 2020 in Crescent City, California.David, known to his friends and family as Little Dave, was born on July 11, 1976 in Crescent City, California to David Gensaw Sr. and Brenda G. Green. David was an enrolled member of the Yurok Tribe but carried Tolowa, Karuk and Chetco in his veins as well. He was a lifelong resident of Del Norte County. He spent his adolescent years on the Klamath and Smith River. There he would immerse himself in his Yurok culture, hunting, fishing and gathering alongside his father David Sr. and brother Brendan, as well as countless other relatives. In 1998 Dave became a father to his only son, Tanner Grizzly Gensaw. David passed down these customs and traditions to Tanner as well.Dave was a kind and gentle soul who never had bad word to say about anyone. All who knew him would tell you that Dave would give you the shirt off his back. He never turned away a stray whether it be an animal or a human. He always had room for one more and his door was always open.David led a quiet life alongside his mother Brenda and grandma Betty on the Elk Valley Rancheria.Sometimes the quietest voice makes the loudest impact and Dave’s impact was LOUD.David was preceded in death by maternal great-grandfather John Bert Green, great-grandmother Grace ‘Greggie’ Green, great-grandfather Fred Hostler, great-grandmother Laura Scott Hostler, grandfather John Green, grandmother Betty Jean Green, mother Brenda Green, brother Jordan Green-Lara.Paternal great grandfather William Gensaw Sr., great-grandmother Belle Pilgrim Gensaw, great-grandfather Mardo Nova, great grandmother Helen Jack Nova, grandfather William Gensaw Jr., grandmother Alma Nova Gensaw, aunt Tamara Gensaw Ferrer.David is survived by his son Tanner Grizzly Gensaw, Father David Gensaw Sr. and Stepmother Wanda Lincoln BigPond, Brother Brendan William Gensaw (Lisa). Step-sisters Duffo’obee and Kowashay BigPond. Stepbrother Reggie Loftin. Great-uncle Sammy Gensaw Sr. Uncles John D. Green Sr. (Wanda), William Gensaw Jr. and Sammy Gensaw Jr. Aunts: Lorna, Helen, Penny, Cathy, Tina, Sandy and Lori Gensaw. Nephews William, Walker, Brendan Jr., Lincoln, Dominic, Dischiyah and Bachoah. Neices Dashoya and Mariah. Great-nephews Nelson and Bernard. Great-Niece Aria.Pallbearers: David Gensaw Sr., Brendan Gensaw, Tanner Gensaw, William Gensaw, Walker Gensaw, Donnie Green, Cogy McCovey.Honorary Pallbearers: John D.
