For the Crescent City Jaycees, the show must go on. Their 44th annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 12 has been transformed into a coronavirus safe, social distancing-approved Easter Egg Drive Thru.Dusty Corpstein, Jaycees board member and one of the event coordinators, said her organization found a way for children to still participate in the Easter celebration.“We talked to the public health coordinator and asked if there was something we could do. And when we proposed it this way, we got the go-ahead,” Corpstein said.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');This free event, for ages 12 and under, is from noon to 1 p.m., rain or shine, at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds, located at 421 U.S. Highway 101, in Crescent City.Corpstein said Jaycees staff, armed with more than 5,000 candy- and prize-filled eggs, donned gloves and masks to assemble bags to hand out to children.She said instead of being released into a field to hunt for the eggs, Crescent City CHP will direct traffic through the fairgrounds parking lot to the distribution spot near the entrance.There, the Easter Bunny and staff, still donning safety gloves and masks, will distribute one bag per child in each car while supplies last.Corpstein said she hopes the event in its new format proves as popular as the traditional format“Usually, we have quite the turnout when we do the Easter egg hunt. We’re not sure how this one will play out. We’re just hoping this will bring a little happiness for kids when things have been turned upside down that they don’t understand,” Corpstein said. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
