She, her husband, Ken, and two other partners wanted to pursue other opportunities.The Cowans were partners with a couple who live out of state and own the lease to the building.According to Lori Cowan, she and her husband did not want to close so soon. They had hoped to give the employees plenty of notice and have a community celebration before shuttering the business.“(We) made the decision to close, had a date to close, and hoped to have a last hoorah,” Lori Cowan said. “Unfortunately, one of the other partners decided they just wanted to shut it down, unbeknownst to us or the employees.”Because of this, the Cowans informed the employees of the closure on their last day of business Feb. 25.“(We’re) bummed. We were all trying to go out in a great way, on a good note,” Lori Cowan said. “It was a sad thing for them (the employees). We feel bad… so hard to do something like that to them again it wasn’t our decision.”Lori Cowan said the other couple still has the lease, and she believes they will bring another business to the location.
