John Pritchett, candidate for the District 1 seat on the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors, first announced his campaign last fall. Since then he has knocked on numerous doors, met his constituents and gained a deeper understanding of issues facing the county. “It’s really sharpened my focus on how important the job of supervisor is and how it can be such a positive instrument for change,” Pritchett said. Through his 28 years in Crescent City, he has gained useful experience on the County Planning Commission, the Fish and Game Wildlife Commission, the Chamber of Commerce Board, and the Crescent City Rotary Club. Pritchett has heard people’s frustrations and their compassion, and he is prepared to work collaboratively with the board and residents to solve the problem. “I believe it’s going to take public, private partnerships to make a real dent in the issues,” he said. What has surprised him the most during his campaign is the variety of his supporters from business owners to local unions. “When you have these two diverse groups coming together that tells me that my message is being heard and… they like what they’re hearing,” he said.
