Gerald Jay (Jerry) Harvey, 89, passed away on December 14, 2019 in Crescent City, California surrounded by family. He was born on March 31, 1930 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Ruth and Floyd Z. Harvey.Jerry grew up in Glendale, CA, with his parents and 5 siblings. He began his career selling produce at age 14 by driving a truck around the Los Angeles area with fresh fruits and vegetables. He was raised during the depression era and knew the value of hard work. As a boy, he spent time at the beach in Santa Monica where he developed a love for the ocean. He was a graduate of Hoover High School and served in the Army. After the Korean War, he returned to work with his brothers at Alexander’s Market in Glendale. In 1957, Jerry followed his brother Ray to Redding, CA, where he had a long career with Farmers Market. After raising his family, he moved to Crescent City and began working at Pacific Market. There he met Betty Stilwell and they were happily married for 21 years. They enjoyed traveling but family was always their focus. They attended as many graduations, performances and family celebrations as possible. Jerry enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by all.He is survived by his wife Betty Harvey, children Julie, Joni, Jamie, Lei Lani and Jon, his brother Cary and sister Ruth, grandchildren Naomi, Chase, Erika, Camille and Eddie.
