A structure fire ignited in a vacant, double-wide modular home early this morning on the 400 block of Cummins Road in Crescent City damaging the residence and a four-door sedan.No victims were located in the residence or the burned vehicle and the cause of the fire is suspicious and remains under investigation, according to a Crescent City Fire and Rescue press release.Crescent City Fire & Rescue responded with two engines, one water tender and three chief officers at 3:56 a.m. to find heavy fire burning in the residence. The sedan in the yard had also burned but was mostly out.The Pelican Bay State Prison Fire Department sent one engine to the scene and the Fort Dick Volunteer Fire Department responded to cover Washington Fire Station. Though heavy brush to the rear of the residence slowed the firefighting efforts, they were able to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby home.A section of the roof collapsed into the home early in the fire and a portion of the floor just inside the door burned away.The home was reportedly vacant for several years, according to the press release, but transient activity in and around the residence has been reported.
