Rosalind Roberta Jones, 80 left us on November 24, 2019 in Crescent City, CA. She was born August 3, 1939 in Crescent City. Rose was liked by many in this community of Del Norte County. A lifelong resident, Rose graduated high school at Canyonville Bible Academy. She worked at Eureka Fisheries and became one of their finest filetier of all time. She also shuck crab at West Coast Crab Company.While working two jobs and raising four children by herself she traveled to College of the Redwoods two nights a week until he gained her Associates Degree in Sociology and became a supervisor at Social Services when she later retired. Rose lived off the grid for 33 years. She loved her geese, dogs and cats. She enjoyed playing bingo and the slots. Rose was also an avid crossword puzzler and answered most Jeopardy questions while solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles.She will be greatly missed.Rose is preceded in death by her mother Catherine Richards, daughter Denise Lopez, brother Leroy Gardner, sister Rose Marie Smoker “Tweet” and brother Alfred Hostler.She is survived by her brother Harold “Pete” Gardner, sister Marilyn Bray, brother Fredrick Hoslter. Rose leaves behind her children Modesta Lopez, daughter Cecilia, son Dean Jones and her baby Michael Ray Jones.We will respect and honor Rose’s wishes and have her cremated. Graveside services will be held at the Howonquet Indian Cemetery on Thursday, December 5th at 11:00 am. Immediately following will be a potluck Celebration of Life at the Howonquet Hall Community Center. Everyone is welcome to bring pictures or a story that can be shared.
