Crescent City has selected its next partner in the continuing development of Beachfront Park: Arcata-based Greenway Partners.The city has received a $25,000 grant from the California Endowment, $20,000 of which will be used on a community engagement plan for Beachfront Park. The city received six proposals.The selection panel included representatives from the city’ s Finance Department, Community Development Department, Recreation Department and administration.Greenway Partners was chosen as the best fit for the project. The City Council unanimously approved that selection.“We were really lucky to have Greenway Partners there,” said the city’s recreation director, Holly Wendt. “They have experience doing outreach for Prop 68.” She said Greenway Partners will conduct public outreach, workshops and meetings with stakeholder groups.In addition, Wendt said, Greenway Partners will provide a training plan for city staff, report to stakeholders based on the feedback received, and present a final report to the City Council by March 16, 2020.In other city business, Wendt said she was excited to be in charge of bringing back the second-annual swim camp at the Fred Endert Municipal Pool in partnership with the Del Norte County Recreation Department. The swim camp will be held Jan. 2-4 from 1-5 p.m. It’s for ages 7-12.The half-day camp will mirror last year’s events, including arts and crafts, aquatic activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, water safety, swim-style lessons and water games, and more.Registration is $65 for the entire camp session, online at www.dnco.org (under the recreation tab), or in person at the Del Norte County Recreation Department, 981 H. St., suite 250, in Crescent City.Wendt said all 60 slots available for last year’s camp sold out within the first week.Meantime, the Crescent City Council has reappointed Blake Inscore as mayor for another year.
