At 11:18 a.m. today, Crescent City California Highway Patrol responded to a solo vehicle collision in the area of U.S. Highway 101 north of Damnation Creek, near milepost 16.82, about six miles south of Crescent City.For reasons still under investigation, the driver, the only occupant of a 2006 Toyota Prius, allowed his vehicle to travel off the east roadway edge of northbound 101. The vehicle continued troward the east, down a steep embankment, where it collided with a large tree.
