Robert โ€œBobโ€ Rogers was born in Westchester, PA on May 25, 1930 and adopted by Ernest and Jesse Rogers of Rhode Island. Bob grew up in Providence, Rhode Island until he joined the US Navy. He was veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.Bob is survived by his wife, Kathleen Colligan Rogers, a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Scott Verzwyvelt of Roy, WA, son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Debbie Rogers of Squim, WA, son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Judy Rogers of Squim, WA, son and daughter-in-law, James and Laurie Gavin of Smith River, CA, and son and daughter-in-law Michael and Karolina Gaven of Meredian, ID. He has 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.Bob retired after 32 years with Hughes Aircraft Company. He traveled to many countries to either supervise the radar jobs or negotiate contract to install radar equipment in various countries while working for the company. He also belonged to the Hughes Golf Club. He served on the committee that helped organized the tournaments on may different golf courses for the golf members. Besides playing golf, Bob found time to build and sail his 41 foot Columbia sailing vessel.After he retired from Hughes, he started a second career as a real estate broker. He owned and operated Fairway Realty and Cape Cod Mortgage company in Canyon Lake, CA. Bob sold real estate, handled foreclosures, and did property management since moving to Crescent City in 2004. He throughly enjoyed helping people by the right home and training and helping realtors succeed.Some of the great activities he enjoyed in Canyon Lake was the private golf course, the square dancing club, bowling league, horses and the lake. He also learned to snow ski at 48 years old. Bob also served on the property associations board of directors. Near Canyon Lake was an airfield where her learned to fly his own 172 Cessna airplane which was a life long dream. After acquiring horses, he discovered the fun sport of Combined Driving Events. Bob definitely lived a very active life until he became too ill to participate any longer.Arrangements are under the direction of Nelsonโ€™s Bay Area Mortuary in Coos Bay, OR. The Memorial Service will be held on November 23, 2019 at 10:30am at Calvary Chapel of the Redwoods, 3180 South Fred D Haight Dr., Smith River, CA 95567.
