The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate incidents last week - a shooting and a possible homicide. Two people sustained gunshot wounds from a shooting that occurred the morning of Oct. 24 on the 800 block of Joshua Road off of Parkway Drive. Staff at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City alerted the sheriff’s office as two patients were receiving care for gunshot wounds in the emergency room around 6:16 a.m. Deputies responded to the hospital and also to the location of the shooting. The sheriff’s office dispatcher received a call from a man complaining of difficulty breathing and requesting medical assistance. A deputy responded to assist the ambulance with locating the residence. When they arrived, they found the dead man, who has been confirmed as Louis C. Martin, born in 1977. John B. Swinger, born in 1970, has been arrested for homicide in conjunction with that case and is being held at the Del Norte County Jail.
