Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness Executive Director Stephanie Wenning is leaving her job, according to an association press release.Wenning reportedly will relocate to Orange County, California at the end of September to begin a career at Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law. She has been executive director of the local cultural group since August 2016.“I learned a lot during my time in this position,” said Wenning, “thanks to the large variety of responsibilities and wide purview of programs that (the organization) offers. I am extremely grateful both for the education and experience I received. and for the opportunity to serve my hometown in a capacity I feel passionate about.“But it is time for me to build a life with my partner, with whom I have been in a long-distance relationship for over two years. I am also looking forward to living in an area with access to many health-care options. She was responsible for implementing Del Norte County’s first year of Poetry Out Loud, as well as expanding the Art in Public Places program to include an exhibit at the new terminal of Crescent City’s airport.During the transition time between her departure and the arrival of a new executive director, the association’s board of directors has asked Wenning to continue working remotely.Wenning recently hired a temporary, part-time administrative assistant to provide regular office hours to the public and to aid in onsite tasks.
