Amanda Lou Housley, 90, passed away on September 7, 2019 in Crescent City, California. She was born October 7, 1928 and raised in Crescent City, California.Throughout her working career, she tried many things until she became a teachers’ aid at Pine Grove Elementary. Lou did that for 18 years until she retired. She loved children and the excitement they had when they learned something new. In her spare time, Lou and Tom would be riding horses and any chance they got you could find them on the beach or at the Bald Hills at a horse camp.Lou was a devout Christian who loved participating in church functions, vacation bible school and youth church camp. She read her bible every day and tried every day to be the best version of herself.Lou was a Tolowa Native American belonging to the Elk Valley Rancheria. She was involved in the tribal government and cultural activities. Lou loved going to the fish camps and eating fish that was prepared the traditional way.
