Linda L. McMillan Nichols, daughter of the late Oscar L. McMillan and Ruth N. Thuemler McMillan, was born January 29, 1951 in Crescent City, CA. She attended Milo Adventist Academy, graduating in 1969. After graduating the Academy she attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA, graduating with an Associates of Science Degree in Nursing.After graduating Pacific Union College Linda worked at Loma Linda University to obtain the status of Registered Nurse in 1973. Linda then worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, California until 1978 before moving back to Crescent City to work for her father on his commercial fishing vessel, the Libra, for approximately one year. She then started working as a Registered Nurse at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City. She Married Robert (Bob) A. Nichols in December of 1979. They had one child, Jeffrey Scott Nichols in 1981.Linda spent the first half of her career as a Registered Nurse at Seaside and Sutter Coast Hospitals. She then moved on to being a public health nurse for Del Norte County in 1990. Linda was also an avid gardener and took immense pride in her roses and gardening. Aside from her career, her husband and son spent many years enjoying life with her going on camping and hunting trips in the Pacific Northwest. After she retired, Linda loved to travel with her dear friend Sandy Squires. In recent years as traveling came to a halt she treasured her moments with her family and grandson Robbie.She quietly departed this life Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Asante Rogue Regional Hospital in Medford, Oregon. Robert A. Nichols preceded her death on April 4, 2004.Surviving are her son Jeffrey Scott Nichols and wife Casara; grandson Robert (Robbie) S. Nichols; brothers Mike McMillan, Oscar McMillan and Jerry Watts; Devoted family also include her sister-in-law, Kris McMillan, nieces Megan Smallwood and Jennifer Schilling, nephew Grant McMillan, Tim McMillan, Dorothy Barrett, Lewis McMillan, Carol and Lannie Coffman, Ralf and Nancy Thuemler, and Ted Thuemler.There are many others who cared dearly for Linda and all will cherish memories they had with her.
