The Northern Humboldt Giants ended up taking second place in the 17 and under American Legion Baseball State Tournament in an All-Humboldt showdown for the state championship.Northern Humboldt, which includes Del Norte’s Kaden Ritter and Jared Dixion along with players from Arcata and McKinleyville lost 7-4 to the Eureka Eagles in the championship game on Sunday in Yountville.Northern Humboldt had just nine players competing in the State Tournament, and fell 12-1 against Chino in the first round of the tournament but bounced back for a 9-3 win over Pemona.The Giants then got revenge against Chino with a 9-5 victory in extra innings to advance to the championship.
