Home brewers provided Fourth weekend celebrators with a tasty range of beverages, competing in an event hosted by the Crescent City Downtown Divas.On Friday, July 5, the Independence Day festivities continued with a street corner demonstration by local homemade beer brewers. The competition was part of the nonprofit organization’s “Live From Downtown: It’s First Friday!” promotion. It was an opportunity to learn more about home brewing and sample fine locally made creations.Participants paid a $10 entry fee and voted for their favorite beer, also entering a raffle to win a home brewing kit. Women have typically dominated alcohol production across the globe.
