Donald was born May 28, 1934, in Napa, to Martin and Anna (Dougherty) Silva and died June 20, 2019, at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City.Don spent most of his childhood in Korbel, an unincorporated community in Humboldt County located 1.5 miles east-southeast of Blue Lake.He married Patricia Nelson and moved to Crescent City in 1958 where they had five children.He was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas for boot camp.In 1975 he moved to Harbor, Oregon, where he met Lorri Mosier. She became his lifetime companion.During the last few years of his life, he was cared for by Barbara Aydt (home care), her significant other, Jim Adkins, and longtime friend Charles Henry.His resume is extensive with repair companies he operated and worked for over the last 50 years, but most recently he worked for his longtime friend Don Chandler (Chandler Heating & Refrigeration/ Brookings, Oregon).Don enjoyed gardening, science fiction (especially Star Trek), and repairing (TVs, heat pumps, air conditioners, etc.). He held a special place in his heart for cats. There are many feral cats that live on his property and he welcomed them all.Surviving are his daughter, Diana Weathers of Crescent City; daughter, Dawn Bucolo of San Luis Obispo; daughter, Dennett Claxton of Sacramento; son, Tony Silva and wife Mary of Crescent City; eight grandchildren, Lazell, Bert, Matthew, Rebecca, Joshua, Daniel, Patricia and Dennett; 12 great-grandchildren, Sacha, Alivia, Isabella, Johnny, Zoe, Alyscia, Aidin, Bert, Cael, Dylan, Carson, and Serenity; three great-great-grandchildren, Romeo, Terry and Noah.Don was preceded in death by his long-term companion Lorraine Mosier of Harbor, Oregon; brother, Martin Silva of Napa; sister, Annette (Marie) Niemi of Fall River Mills; his niece, Donna Elder of Redding; and his daughter, Donna β€œLori” Silva, of Crescent City.His remains will be interred by Redwood Memorial Chapel on June 28, 2019, at WJ Ward Memorial Cemetery in Brookings, Oregon.β€” Submitted by Family#7102540lJF062923540022 - off To plant a tree in memory of Donald Silva as a living tribute, please visit Tribute Store. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
