By Police Chief Richard Griffin – June 27, 2022 Today I’m saddened to announce the passing of retired CCPD K9 Django. I spoke with Retired CCPD K9 Officer Gene Votruba earlier today and found out that Django was suffering from severe medical issues and made his trek across the Rainbow Road. K9 Django served this community for several years and was initially assigned to K9 Officer Aaron King before ending his career with Officer Votruba. Django was enjoying his retirement years in Idaho with Officer Votruba and was a beloved member of his family. My thoughts are with the Votruba family today, and the future, as they deal with this loss. I know they are devastated. Rest in peace Django, your service to the community, and dedication to this department will never be forgotten.
