By Donna Westfall – April 6, 2022 On Friday, April 8th at 4 pm, Susan Masten will be sworn in as the 5th District Supervisor at the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors Chambers. Masten was appointed by Gov. Newsom to fulfill the term left vacant due to the passing of Bob Berkowitz. However, on June 7th, there are going to be an additional four others seeking that position in the primary: Dean Wilson David Markel Terri Colton Dave Jones At issue with Masten is whether or not she could serve all of District 5 instead of limiting her attention to the Klamath area. There are over 800 households in the Bertsch Tract representing over 2,200 people. At the very least, we will get a chance to observe her performance as Supervisor for the next 60 days.
