By Roger Gitlin – EYE ON DEL NORTE – March 9, 2022 Del Norte Sheriff Randy Waltz has been indicted on three counts of Voter Fraud, a felony. It pains me to report this kind of disturbing news but nontheless, it is important the public be made aware of these serious charges. It is also important to know if one is charged with a crime, one is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The details of the indictment involve appointed Sheriff Waltz registering his home address in Smith River. District Attorney Katie Micks alleges when the Sheriff registered to vote and declared himself a candidate from the address on his Sec. of State forms for the Office of Sheriff, he perjured himself. Sheriff Waltz will be arraigned March 29 at 1:30 in Del Norte Superior Court. Sheriff Waltz is running against Del Norte County Sgt. Enrique Ortega and retired Crescent City Police Department, Lt. Garrett Scott.
