The poll was by Public Opinion Strategies and showed the following: 79% Support Citizenship Verification for Registering to Vote 68% Support Voter ID for Casting a Ballot As reflected in the charts above, the polling showed both concepts enjoy widespread and deep bipartisan support.“The message from this polling is clear: if Voter ID is put on the 2026 ballot, it would pass in a landslide,” said Carl DeMaio, Reform California Chairman. In December, DeMaio – who is also a CA State Representative – introduced the CA Voter ID Initiative in the state legislature. Unfortunately, Sacramento politicians refuse to consider the game-changing reform.That’s why DeMaio is asking supporters for help in getting more than 1 million signatures to put the initiative on the ballot for a statewide vote.“I firmly believe a Voter ID law is the best way to restore public trust and confidence in our elections in California — and if we can get enough signatures to qualify the measure for a statewide vote we would win,” DeMaio says.“We need volunteers to help collect the 1 million signatures we need to qualify for a vote and contributions to cover the hard costs of putting the CA Voter ID Initiative on the ballot,” DeMaio concludes. >> CONTRIBUTE to the CA Voter ID Campaign >> VOLUNTEER: Commit to Help Collect Signatures Key Deadlines We Face in 2025As we work to put it on the 2026 ballot, we face two looming deadlines: DEADLINE 1: May 1, 2025. We must finish forming our statewide coalition by this date – and raise the initial costs of filing the initiative and recruit at least 7,500 volunteers. DEADLINE 2: August 31, 2025. The initiative must be filed by this date. DEADLINE 3: October 15, 2025.
