The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Crescent City Times.com By Carl DeMaio – April 24, 2026 GREAT NEWS! I'm thrilled to let you know that moments ago I received notice from the CA Secretary of State's Office that they have completed the review of the 1.3 million signatures we collected on the CA Voter ID Initiative. THE CA VOTER ID INITIATIVE HAS OFFICIALLY QUALIFIED FOR THE NOVEMBER BALLOT! With a validity rate of 80%, we had well over 1M valid signatures – much more than the 874k we needed. This amazing accomplishment would not have been possible without YOUR SUPPORT! Over 18,000 volunteers collected signatures – and a phenomenal bipartisan coalition of groups came together to make this happen. But while we celebrate qualifying for the ballot, the HARD WORK is now in front of us! You and I both know that CA Democrat politicians will try to politicize this common-sense reform measure – and they will use every dirty trick and deception to defeat us. We must now put together an aggressive campaign to PASS CA VOTER ID in November! In the coming weeks I will share more details on how you can help us organize the passage campaign in your area – but for now, let's celebrate and begin gathering the funds to win in November. Best, Carl DeMaio Chairman, Reform California CA State Representative (Assembly District 75) PS: Here's the video of me leaving the State Capitol moments after I received the official notice that we qualified the CA Voter ID Initiative.
