The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Crescent City Times.com By Kevin Kiley – May 7, 2026 The CCP-linked fugitive who ran the secret Reedley bio lab has been convicted and faces 20 years in prison. The lab contained malaria, HIV, E. coli, and possibly Ebola. A similar lab was just found in Vegas. I’m calling on Congress to pass my bill to uncover any other CCP-backed labs. This comes as we had two major wins for accountability. First, after I sponsored the Election Results Accountability Act to make California count votes faster and not take a month, Newsom has suddenly decided he agrees with me and is requiring results be tabulated twice as fast. Second, I introduced the Coastal Commission Accountability Act after this out-of-control agency tried to stop SpaceX launches because they didn’t like Elon Musk’s political views. Now, the Commission has issued a formal apology; it also just lost at the CA Supreme Court unanimously. Meanwhile, I appeared on the Adam Carolla show to discuss the latest High-Speed Rail revelation. It is now estimated to cost $231 billion. Fortunately, we got my proposal to cut off all federa funding signed into law, meaning the project’s days are likely numbered. In DC, I chaired an Education Subcommittee hearing on how California schools are lowering standards and taking away advanced learning options. SF middle schools, for instance, outlawed algebra for a decade. Now, incoming students at even selective CA colleges can't do basic math. At another hearing I fought against California’s reckless crime policies. By voting against Kayleigh's law, the Legislature has denied victims of sexual assault the ability to get a permanent restraining order. Fortunately, we are going to pass a federal version to protect victims. Finally, Newsom likes to say the California Exodus is a myth. Apparently his own Department of Finance is in on it. The agency reports we lost 288,000 people to other states in 2025. Our population also declined for just the third time ever, all during Newsom's tenure.
