The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Crescent City Times.com By Kevin Kiley โ June 24, 2026 Newsom's own staffer ran against us in 2024. He targeted us with his gerrymander in 2025. Now his loyal lockstep ally Richard Pan is running against us in 2026. This Governor will do anything to avoid accountability. It was a sad spectacle as Pan held a "press conference" at the CA Democratic Party HQ. Introduced by Special Interest benefactors, he stood in front of a brick wall and simply read talking points handed to him by a National Democrat SuperPAC (See the grainy footage). Pan was obviously rattled, and with good reason: we made history finishing first in the primary, and thousands of Californians have signed the Parents Against Pan petition. The petition details his record as the most radical anti-parent lawmaker in America. You can read and share it here. Panโs accusations were so delusional I held my own event yesterday challenging him to five debates. You can watch it here. I was joined not by Special Interests but by our amazing student interns. Behind me wasnโt a brick wall but our award for best constituent service in America. The contrast could not be clearer: our citizens movement for common sense in California, versus the failed extreme partisanship of Newsom and Pan. We just got another large dose of that failure: Newsom is set to impose "one of the biggest hikes in the last decade." I brought to light another outrageous failure at a recent hearing with Education Secretary McMahon. California is effectively stopping high school athletes in my district from competing at all, rather than let them compete in a league where only girls can play in the girls division. But some good news: Newsomโs presidential poll numbers are cratering. We are getting the word out. It turns out the two hallmarks of his governorship โ incompetence and corruption โ are not the best selling points with voters.
