By Kevin Kiley – August 4, 2026 Last year I introduced a bill to cut off all federal funding for High-Speed Rail, and we eventually got legislation to that effect signed into law. Newsom wasn’t happy. He immediately filed a lawsuit to try to get the money back. That lawsuit has now been dropped, finalizing our victory. The state, it turns out, had to admit it missed the deadline to buy the actual trains. Of course, there are still no trains, no tracks, no passengers. The entire project – LA to SF – was supposed to be completed in 2020. Meanwhile, both Newsom’s Chief of Staff and Xavier Becerra’s have now pleaded guilty to corruption charges. So the top staffer for the current Governor and the nominee to be the next Governor are both convicted felons. That tells you all you need to know about Sacramento. It’s why we’ve fought so hard to restore sanity in our state. Our latest efforts involve blocking Newsom’s new healthcare tax (see video here); writing a bill called the Simple Common Sense Voter ID Act; and introducing legislation to teach literacy properly in our schools. As I pointed out in a keynote address to the Sacramento Taxpayers Association, after eight years of Newsom, California does indeed "lead the nation" – in homelessness, unemployment, poverty, and cost of living. Perhaps that’s why his presidential campaign is already cratering. California also led the nation in COVID insanity, as I discussed on Newsmax. As maddening as it was for Fauci to take the Fifth in the Senate last week, there’s also been no accountability for politicians like Newsom and Pan who caused untold harm to a generation of kids. But we now finally have a chance to hold them both accountable, in the way that matters most: winning this November.
