Atchison left her home at Parkway Drive and Railroad Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 9, Del Norte County Undersheriff Devin Perry told Redwood Voice Community News on Tuesday. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office has entered her into its missing persons system, Perry said, and had conducted a ground search that was unsuccessful despite requesting pings on her cell phone to try to locate her. Atchison is described as a white female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants and a white beanie, according to Atchison’s sister, Nicole Atchison said that though her family has reported Stephanie as missing to law enforcement in Del Norte County and in Brookings, she decided to organize a search party herself. According to a Facebook post on Monday, Nicole Atchison said the search would include the open and public land within the Elk Creek Wildlife Area. The family has offered a $4,000 reward for Stephanie Atchison’s safe return home. According to Nicole Atchison’s post, her sister may be experiencing a mental health crisis. People are asked to call 911 or (619) 315-8992 if they see Stephanie Atchison.
