By Linda Sutter – February 14, 2021 Stopped to talk to the flagger on Highway 101 south of Humboldt Road as stranded cars, RV’s , and trucks line Highway 101 little do they know the likelihood of getting through Last Chance Grade is pretty much nil. Flagger stated the width of the landslide of Last Chance Grade is approximately 100 yards long and covers the entire passage of the road. Flagger stated she was required to walk the top of the retainer to get to the North Side of the slide and conduct her job as a flagger, (a very narrow walk with nothing to hold onto). This is not looking good for travelers who line the Highway without any communication on what is going on. Most likely the road will not be opening up today.
