Each year, right after Memorial Day, Crescent City truck and scoopers offer a free brush pick-up service IF the homeowner or renter will put their brush into the street next to the curb. This year, 54 loads at 5 yards a load made it to the transfer station. What did that cost in dollars and cents? Per Executive Director, Tedd Ward, at the Solid Waste Authority it would have cost a total of $4,816.66 or $49.80 per ton. However, because the Authority and Hambro WSG waived the fees, it only cost the city in manpower and equipment. Thank you Crescent City for this service. Now, why doesn't the County do this? No sidewalks?
