Believing that I have current expeiences to state the following opinions, and believing that those experiences have given me a glimpse of what is causing core problems in Crescent City and its environs, here it goes. Normal everyday citizens do not feel safe in their homes and in the integrity of local law enforcement. There are loosely organized groups of bully’s, legal and illegal, who are allowed to operate with impunity or fear of reprisal. Many of these bully’s are allowed to operate with impunity because no one actually tries to stop them. The climate is one of not what you do, or do not do, but one of who you know, who are you related to, are you worth money, and what can you do for them. The bully’s are operating because of numerous excuses. Fear, intimidation, payoffs, greed, arogance and lethargy. Many citizens are fearful of going to authorities, or to complain about transgressions because, if they do, the situation only becomes worse because supposedly responsible authorities furnish no assistance, or turn the tables.
