Redwood Parks needs volunteers for South Beach cleanup, July 5. Del Norte Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Dean Wilson made a special plea during his Board comments, last week. On the eve of America’s 248th Birthday, the 5th District Supervisor asked the public to keep South Beach clean and pristine following the July 4th Fireworks Show.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');“Thousands of visitors and locals come to South Beach to enjoy the fireworks from the Crescent City Jetty. The trash aftermath on South Beach July 5th is atrocious,” Wilson asked the public to pick up their trash and pitch it in refuse containers Cal Trans and Del Norte County have provided.Redwoods Parks Conservancy along with Smith River Alliance is asking for volunteers to help clean up the trash some folks left behind, littering the magnificent beaches south of the Harbor. The cleanup effort is scheduled Friday, after the fireworks, from 10am-12Noon. Parking is available next to House of Jambalaya off Anchor Way. The Parks Conservancy is reaching out to area businesses, especially restaurants to help recruit visitor volunteers locally and from out of area for two special requests:• Leave no trash behind. Deposit trash before it becomes litter.• Volunteer! Help Redwood Parks Conservancy and Smith River Alliance with the cleanup, Friday morning, July 5. Volunteers, please call Redwood Parks Conservancy at (707) 564-7388 for additional questions or a posting of the RPC flyer at your business or show up at South Beach at Anchor Way.Redwood Parks Conservancy recommends wearing long pants, covered shoes, gloves preferred (Smith River Alliance will provide gloves and bottled water). Redwood Parks Conservancy thanks you for helping keep Del Norte beautiful. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
