Hiouchi, CA – In the latest collaboration spanning a twenty-year partnership, the Smith River Alliance and Cal Poly Humboldt Natural Resources Club engaged local volunteers and Six Rivers National Forest law enforcement staff on March 29th, 2025. Participants removed one ton of trash and recyclables from a target shooting area off the South Fork Road. Meanwhile, a smaller team eradicated hundreds of noxious weeds at a separate location several miles upstream.This cleanup and invasive plant removal was organized by Smith River Alliance, which educated participants on the harmful effects of microtrash and noxious weeds, and provided tools, supplies, and personal protective equipment.
