August 1 β Burglary Investigation Update: On 7-30-25 at around 2:25 AM, Crescent City Police Department Officers were dispatched to a burglary at Local Boys Surf Shop located at 1175 2nd Street in Crescent City. This was during the time that the beaches and low-lying areas of Del Norte County were under Tsunami "Warning" status issued by the National Weather Service. Officers responded and discovered two suspects had broken a window to enter the business and steal a skateboard and possibly other items. Surveillance footage was obtained, and the Officers began attempting to identify the suspects. The suspects took measures to conceal their faces during the commission of the crime. Pictures of the suspects were posted by several pages on Facebook in an attempt to have the community assist in identifying them. Later in the evening of 7-30-25 at around 7:45 PM, an employee of Tractor Supply Company reported to CCPD that one of the burglary suspects was possibly in their store currently. CCPD Officers responded and identified Waylon Willburn (age 27) at the store. Wilburn was also actively stealing items from Tractor Supply and was in possession of the stolen skateboard from Local Boys Surf Shop. Officers were also able to identify several items that he was wearing as items in the surveillance footage of the original burglary. Willburn was arrested for the burglary of Local Boys Surf Shop the night prior, a felony under section 459 of the California Penal Code, as well as shoplifting at Tractor Supply, a misdemeanor under section 459.5 of the California Penal Code. On 8-1-2025 CCPD Officers also located a second subject, Anthony Degler (age 27), who was believed to be involved in the burglary at Local Boys Surf Shop. During their interview and further investigation Degler was arrested for 182 PC, Conspiracy, and 459 PC, Burglary, as well as his other outstanding warrants he had for his arrest at the time.
