Del Norte Sheriff Garrett Scott has announced Merced County Sheriff’s Posse will be participating and leading the parade on the Inauguration on President Donald J. Trump.Merced County Sheriff Vern Wernke released this amazing news and acknowledged Sheriff Scott and the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Posse will be helping with financial donations. Merced County Sheriff’s Posse is setting up its mounted posse unit, expediently. Funds are sought for horse feed and shelter for the Merced team. This is not the first Rodeo for the Merced Posse. The Posse participated in President Trumps first Inauguration in 2017 and were in fact the only representatives from the Golden State for this historical event. Sheriff Scott underscored the political party one belongs to is irrelevant. The honor bestowed on Merced is monumental.#placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');Here’s the Release from Sheriff Wernke:“ We submitted for a request to participate in the 47th Presidential Inaugural Parade that will be held January 20, 2025. It is with great honor that we received the news on the evening of December 22, 2024 that the Merced County Sheriff’s Posse was once again selected to participate in this prestigious event. During our trip to Washibgton, DC to celebrate the 47th Inauguration, I and the Sheriff’s Posse will be flying flags representing Central Valley Sheriff’s Offices in this monumental Parade. As you know and event of this magnitude is going to require some funding. We are hoping to mitigate the cost to each member and hoping community stakeholders like yourself who believe in the work we do and all we represent would come together to assist in sending our team out to such an historic and world-recogcontributions. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office will also be showing the colors of nine other California County Sheriff’s Offices. While we are gathering information regarding costs, we conservatively estimate the financial need will be well over $100,000. Transportation for the horses alone and their care will be approximately $48,000. We have yet to total the travel and hotel costs. We know the costs have increased exponentially, since 2017. We hope all members of the community will partner with us as supporters to assist this historic opportunity. One may assist by contributing to the Merced County Sheriff’s Posse either by check or cash. Venmo is available upon request.
