Incumbent Harbor commissioner Rick Shepherd administered the Oath of Office to newly-seated commissioners-elect Dan Schmidt, Annie Nehmer and John Evans. Upon seating, Commissioner Dan Schmidt nominated colleague Gerhard Weber. Commissioner Annie Nehmer the top vote- getter in the November 5 election, nominated herself to Board president. Gerhard’s nomination was confirmed on a 4-1 vote, Nehmer dissenting. Nehmer was unanimously appointed to the Board’s Secretary position.The Meeting’s tenor was arguably slow and deliberate and sometimes cantankerous when former candidate Linda Sutter levied questionable allegations, unproven and unsubstantiated criminal charges against Community Solutions Grants principal Mike Bahr. The attacks were unhelpful and distracting in educating the newly-seated commissioners. #placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');The controversy over the securing of ice for commercial fishermen continues to vex the Harbor District. Commissioner Shepherd, the longest serving commissioner proposed the Harbor not intervene in securing ice shavings as it has no history of performing this function in previous decades of service. Commercial fishermen are quite capable of having ice delivered to their vessels when the crab and shrimp season commences in January.The Harbor District meets again, Tuesday, December 17 at 2pm at the District Office on Citizen’s Dock Rd. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
