What are California’s Values?Gov. Gavin Newsom plans to discuss those Values when he convenes a Special Session of the Legislature December 2 at the Capitol, to address the Assembly and Senate on protecting California Values. Gov. Newsom underscores these Values are at risk, since the election of Donald J.Trump as the 47th President of the United States. The Proclamation will focus on bolstering California’s legal resources to protect #placement_573654_0_i{width:100%;max-width:550px;margin:0 auto;}var rnd = window.rnd || Math.floor(Math.random()*10e6);var pid573654 = window.pid573654 || rnd;var plc573654 = window.plc573654 || 0;var abkw = window.abkw || '';var absrc = 'https://ads.empowerlocal.co/adserve/;ID=181918;size=0x0;setID=573654;type=js;sw='+screen.width+';sh='+screen.height+';spr='+window.devicePixelRatio+';kw='+abkw+';pid='+pid573654+';place='+(plc573654++)+';rnd='+rnd+';click=CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER';var _absrc = absrc.split("type=js"); absrc = _absrc[0] + 'type=js;referrer=' + encodeURIComponent(document.location.href) + _absrc[1];document.write('');• Civil Rights• Reproductive Freedom• Climate Action• Immigrants Familiesin the face of an incoming Trump Administration.This is the first of several actions promised by the Newsom Administration, in partnership with the Legislature, as the Govenor begins...in his words, “shoring up California’s defenses against an incoming Federal Administration that has threatened the State on multiple fronts.”Newsom continued, “The freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack- and we won’t sit idle. California has faced this challenge before- and we know how to respond. We are prepared and we will do everything necessary to ensure Californians have the support and resources they need to thrive.”The Govenor’s warning was not necessarily embraced by Del Norte County. President Trump prevailed over vanquished candidate Kamala Harris by nearly a 3-2 margin.Board of Supervisors Chairman Dean Wilson, speaking independently, stated the following: “Gov. Newsom’s special session to resist the results of the election shows a true lack of understanding the election. Almost 45 percent of the (Del Norte) electorate voted for Trump, over 75 percent passed Prop 36 wanting to hold criminals accountable for their crimes, drug offenders to be forced into treatment. The Governor has ruined our California education system which was once the best in our Nation, devolving to 34th (in State Reading and Math scores). The price of housing, rent, food and fuel have made California too expensive for most minimum wage earners.”Wilson continued, “Gov. Newsom’s failure to understand the majority of Americans want change and do not want California to waste tax revenue fighting the Trump Administration. We want the State to focus on lowering our costs, increasing energy development, improving our infrastructure and restoring law and order. Californians (Del Norters) do not want to spend our taxes on illegal immigrants and resisting Federal deportation of criminals. The more the Democrat Party in control fails to recognize the winds of change blowing, Newsom will drive more and more voters towards the Republican Party.” googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('ad-1515727'); });
