Crescent City Fire and Rescue (CCFR) was recently recognized with an Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating upgrade, placing the Department among the elite across the United States.The CCFR exists under a joint powers agreement between the Crescent City Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Crescent Fire Protection District. Some 18 months ago, CCFR was solely a volunteer agency. With funding from the City’s Measure S Tax and the Fire District benefit assessment. The evaluating office grades various categories of a community’s fire service and gives each a rating from 1-10 (the highest achievable score being a Class 1).CCFR’s rating was a Class 4, quite respectable for an all volunteer department.Fire Chief Kevin Carey announced at the City Council meeting Tuesday night, the Crescent City Fire and Rescue has now achieved an ISO Class 2 rating.
