Crescent City, Calif. — Redwood Parks Conservancy and Redwood National & State Parks invite the public to celebrate the Fall 2024 Artists-in-Residence at a special reception on Wednesday, November 13, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Crescent City Cultural Center, located at 1001 Front Street, Crescent City, CA 95531 under the Visitors Center.Guests are encouraged to join for a delightful afternoon of light hors d’oeuvres and an opportunity to meet this season’s talented artists, Janine Mapurunga and Maureen McGarry. Admission is free, but RSVPs are required, as space is limited. During her residency, she aims to create images that evoke a sense of belonging with nature.● Maureen McGarry — An Arcata-based artist specializing in watercolor, McGarry focuses on themes drawn from the natural world. “I have recently been experimenting with watercolor collage and assemblage and hope to use these techniques to add depth and perspective to my paintings during this residency,” she explained.About the Redwood Artist-in-Residence ProgramThe Artist-in-Residence program offers artists the opportunity to immerse themselves in the inspiring landscapes of Redwood National & State Parks. Residencies last up to four weeks, and the program welcomes a variety of artistic disciplines, including writing, sculpture, photography, painting, dance, film, music, and other visual and performing arts.Participants receive housing and a stipend of up to $5,000 to support their creative pursuits.
