Much of the credit for the fruition of this dire needed affordable housing was directed toward Housing Authority Director Megan Miller and her team who assumed and developed the vision goal of using project-base housing vouchers to facilitate and allocate implementation of dire tenant housing needs.Chief Development Officer Bill Rice detailed the breakdown of the units: The Senior units will be divided into 30 one-bed units, 628 sq.ft each and 10 two bed apartments, each with 800 sq.ft. minimum age requirement is 62. No Senior will pay more than 30 percent for rent. The range for Senior apartments will be from $438-$702 monthly.The 120 Family units will divide among 20 two bedroom units, 80 three bedroom units each with 975 sq.ft and 20 four bedroom units, each with 1100 sq.ft. There is no age restriction on family apartments.Workforce families whose income falls below $61,500, a figure that incrementally adjusts, will qualify to live at Battery Point at reduced rents. The rent schedule for the family units begins at $607 per month. The larger apartments will range from $1228-$1528 monthly.Battery Points Apartments will join the Harbor Point Apartments on H Street, developed by the Danco Group and the Roosevelt Estates project located on California St.The State will also provide subsidized dental care to residents and no charge.All projects are located within City limits.
