The Redwood Parks Conservancy (RPC) Smith River Alliance, multi-partners and 110 volunteers cleaned up in the aftermath of the July 4 Fireworks event along South Beach, Crescent Beach and Pebble Beach. July 5. According to Recology Del Norte, an estimated 2500 lbs. of spent fireworks debris was removed by several teams of ten volunteer groups spread across various locations, bringing Del Norte beaches back to pristine status. Recology Del Norte provided debris collection at zero cost to the community. The reduction is noteworthy since Redwood Parks and Smith River Alliance have conducted education within the community and brought the litter problem to the public’s attention.
